Foreign Students Enrollment
I. Programs and Requirements
(1)Non-degree students
Any foreign student who wants to learn Chinese and has a good understanding of China’s culture, who is healthy, has had formal schooling of high school level or higher, who abides by China’s laws and the general regulations of HUST can apply for admission to study here.
a. Long term Chinese language and cultural classes
Spring semester registration: Mar. 1-5
Fall semester registration: Sep. 1-5
b.
Short term Chinese language and cultural classes
Classes in spring: 2 – 3 weeks
Classes during the Peony Flower Festival: Mar. 20 – April 20
Classes during summer vacation: July 15 – Aug. 15
c.
Travel with cultural study:
This program is offered all year round and there should be at least 7 students. Famous sites in Luoyang city and its suburbs will be visited.
(2) Advanced visiting scholars
This program is for those who have the academic credentials of the master’s degree or above and pursue special subject research under the instruction of tutors. The time for study depends on each student’s major.
(3)Undergraduates
This program is offered for those who are high school graduates with the certificate of Chinese Proficiency Test – HSK Band 6. The duration of this program is 4 – 6 years.
(4)Postgraduates
This program is for those who are university graduates with the certificate of Chinese Proficiency Test – HSK Band 6. Recommendations from 2 professors are necessary. The duration of this program is 2 – 3 years.
II. Application Procedures TOP↑
(1) Any interested university, college, or community may contact the International Cooperation Department of HUST for further information about overseas students’ programs here.
(2) Individual applicants should contact the Foreign Affairs Office for the Application Forms.Then they should return the completed forms to the office along with relevant academic credentials, recommendation letters, the Guarantor Forms signed by their financial supporters and the application fee (RMB400).
After receiving the above-mentioned documents and fee, the office will mail the Admission Notice, a Physical Examinations Record for Foreigners and the JW202 Form issued by the provincial Education Department to qualified applicants. Each item on the Record should be checked and completed by a state-run hospital; the original detailed laboratory test forms (for example, HIV) are needed as well. With the above mentioned files, he/she can apply for the X (student) visa at the Chinese Embassy or Consulate-General. Prospective students are required to register with the Admission Notice, JW202 Form and Physical Examination Record (including the original test notes) within the specific period.

(2)Programs for Chinese language: See Table 2.
(3)Medical Insurance Fee: Foreign student must buy the medical insurance in China. Studying for half a year is RMB300, one year is RMB600.

Accommodation Tariff
Overseas students who are to live on campus please find the details in Table 3.
(5)Make-up fee: RMB100/subject.
(6)Textbook fee: not included in the tuition fee and to be paid according to the books to be used.

Visiting Fee:
For foreign students who study for more than 3 months, free transportation is available to visit Luoyang city and its suburbs, for social and cultural experience and language practice. A long-distance trip will be arranged based on students’ requirements, but the students are expected to cover all the fees.
IV.Others TOP↑
(1) All the fees have to be paid at the beginning of the term. The tuition does not include the cost of textbooks and resource books.
(2) All the tuition fee includes the incident insurance.
(3) All the fees are subject to change without prior notice.

If two persons share one room, the cost will also be shared. If studying at HUST for more than three months, overseas students can live outside campus with permissions from HUST and the Local Security Bureau. |
